It’s the first Wednesday of the month, so you know that means it’s time for a special #WCW – Author Edition.
Once a month, I sit down with a fellow author and we talk books, words, and other things.
And for this month, I’m shining the spotlight on SADE RENA
Let’s get into the chat, shall we?
Thanks for taking the time to chat today, Sade!
Let’s talk writing first…
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
SR: When I was twelve years. I joined a writing program at my middle school where we learned to write poetry. Eventually we started rewriting plays and I at a point grew to love novels and the art of telling stories in that form.
What comes first, the plot or characters?
SR: Definitely the plot. Sometimes, I’ll have characters in mind, but the majority of my stories are plot driven.
Do you prefer writing in silence or to music?
SR: It depends on my mood. I mainly write to playlist that I create for each book.
How much ‘world building’ takes place before you start writing?
SR: If I’m writing fantasy/paranormal, there is a LOT of world building that goes into the planning process. When I’m writing contemporary, my world building kind of flows as I’m writing the story.
How do you deal with emotional impact of a book (on yourself) as you are writing the story?
SR:I don’t handle this well AT ALL. Lol! I’ve written some books that took a lot of me emotionally which ultimately slowed down the process of the book. I needed to take breaks to regroup, and found myself dreading the chapters. When that happens, I try to take breaks between projects, give myself time to collect myself before burying myself in the minds of new characters.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
SR: Fifteen written books. My favorite books to write has been Dirty Calls, Saddle Up Cowboy, and Cruel Awakening
Who is your favorite character that you have written?
SR: If so, who? And what makes them special.
You’ve written in multiple romance subgenres. Do you have a preference?
SR: I primarily write contemporary, interracial romance, but my preferred subgenre is fantasy/paranormal romance.
Where do you get your inspiration?
SR: A lot of ways. Sometimes I people watch, listen to music, read, or watch TV.
If you had to recommend one of your books to a new reader, which would you recommend?
SR: Dirty Calls, it’s a fan favorite.
Where can readers find out more about you and your books?
SR: www.saderena.com or check me out via Amazon.

Character Inspiration

The Scoop on
UNTIL FOREVER
What was the inspiration for the story?
SR: Until Forever by a scene that hit me while I was in the middle of writing Last Chance Cowboy. It’s an emotion filled, angsty scene between two people who loves each other but have been pretending they don’t. It didn’t fit LCC, but I knew right away it would fit Latoya and Jasper.
Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?
SR: The song that lives on repeat in my head while I write this book is, Before I Broke Your Heart by Justin Love.
What is the future of the characters? Will there be a sequel?
SR: This couple will definitely get their HEA, but because this is featuring in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Happily Ever Alpha world, there won’t be a sequel. Maybe! I’m just diving into the story, so no details on release dates just yet, but it will release in 2021.
If you had to describe the main character in THREE words, what would those three words be?
SR: Jasper- Alpha, broken, cocky.
If your book was going to be made into a movie, who are the celebrities that would star in it?
SR: If Until Forever was ever made into a movie, I’d love to see China McClain as Latoya and Jack Reynor as Jasper.
